Black As I Wanna Be

In this revolutionary work, Walker presents a much needed response to the most violate social issue facing our nation today – police brutality and institutional racism. Walker goes through the cases that grabbed our nation’s attention and establishes an equally hostile and confrontational tone that so many African Americans have been historically confronted by. Inspired by the riots in Ferguson, Missouri after Michael Brown's murder, Walker candidly speaks to his people and holds no punches as he delivers one of the most powerful and inspiring reads of the 21st century. Do yourself a favor and read this book!!

Ezekiel J. Walker's writing of BLACK AS I WANNA BE is a truly inspiring and personal message to explore the recent killings involving white officers and Black victims. Walker explains how these killings have impacted him as a Black male. The fact that he has been fed up to the point of wanting to fight back with violence. While reading BLACK AS I WANNA BE it brings clarity to some issues surrounding racism in America. Racism has moved from generation to generation. Walker points out that racism in America is systemic, rooted and grounded in day to day life. I highly recommend this well written and thoughtful book.

The Madea Factory

The Madea Factory will address many topics related to African American stereotypes and images which are portrayed in the movie industry, largely by the most recognizable and profitable black filmmaker of all time, Tyler Perry. Since African Americans began performing and entertaining nationally over one hundred years ago, there has been a division between the mainstream viewing public and the African American audience, from which these mannerisms and behaviors are allegedly derived from. This book provides clarity to why the gap continues to exist today and how it can best be overcome. Read More

Must Read!

Reading this book opened my eyes to the history, stereotypes, similarities and contrasts of today's version of the cross dressing black man. I was unaware of the concept of black men dressing as women from the early 1900s. This book provides the alternate angle of the price of calling something comedy. While most black people love, adore, or praise Tyler Perry they are not aware of the content that his Madea character evokes to its audience, especially young boys. If you want a realistic and factual based eye opener about the truth behind Madea and the influences of homosexuality, minstrel shows, religion, and other forms of coonery, the Madea Factory is the book you should read.

Throughout the book, you will find that no topics are off-limits, as Walker discusses racism, pop culture, religious over-dependence, controversial sports figures, the "n-word", hip hop, women's issues, and other topics that have been swept under the rug for so long. With such debatable issues featured, Walker offers in-depth interviews with persons of high credential to contribute through a "Conversation For Clarity." Several persons include Darryl Hunt, Terrie M. Williams, Dr. Peter Salovey, Nikki Giovanni, and others that will prove influential to this book's credibility. Reminiscent of a Familiar Face will illustrate to the present generation, and those past, of the necessary resilience that one must possess in order to transition from merely talking about solutions to actually contributing to the change they want to see.
